Have the opportunity to work for a Major Investment Banking firm located in New York City working as a Senior Windows Security Engineer within the Security Engineering team, providing highest level of security solutions consulting and engineering of core XP/Win2K3/Win2k8, and AD infrastructure components. The role is suited to an experienced Platform Engineer, Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer with a proven understanding in enterprise platform engineering, preferably within the Windows Applications Security or Data Protection areas (will train strong Windows Engineers that don’t have Security experience). An additional key component of this role is project based, with numerous activities to expand and enhance the services provided within the environment. The Windows Infrastructure Security Engineer group provides a stable, yet agile and dynamic infrastructure platform to support the business functional requirements whilst managing associated risks. The core responsibilities of this role include: - Analysis and Development of Platform Security initiatives - Provide consultancy services to IT Security and other IT Security teams - Provide architecture assurance on security platform initiatives - Maintain security infrastructure, providing stability by following and using the tools, policies, processes and procedures available. - Provide a secure environment, managing and mitigating risks. - Provide reporting and metrics - Resolve Incidents impacting hosts or environment. - Create, review, maintain and update documentation. - Work with global colleagues to provide globally consistent processes and procedures. - Undertake problem ownership. - Investigate & Troubleshoot root causes when escalated from Operations - Escalate and liaise with additional internal/external groups when required, resulting in satisfactory resolution. - Document & Publish fixes in central knowledge base. - Dissemination of knowledge amongst colleagues. - Integrate and Interact with regional & global colleagues, providing innovative ideas. - Active participation within and amongst teams and colleagues, providing constructive feedback when necessary. - Regularly re-evaluate processes and procedures. - Identify areas for automation and Scripting wherever possible. - Instigate service improvement initiatives - Help to identify opportunities for process improvement or synergies across the business. - Evaluate, discuss, listen to and re-think ideas to move forwards in a productive manner. - Maximize the use of existing resources, skills and technologies for the greatest benefit. - Responsibility for the planning and controlled execution of releases into the managed environment. - Input into Business Continuity Planning and Practices. The candidate must demonstrate strong technical qualities - preferably in a global environment. Skills Required Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other numerical discipline, with a MS, MBA or Ph.d being a plus. Requires 3-7 years of Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Security Engineering and/or Platform Engineering experience.Professional and extensive experience in Platform based Security is strongly preferred, but would consider candidates with strong Engineering backgrounds that are willing to learn the following areas within security (candidates with this experience will take priority over those who don’t):- Requires 5-10 years of Windows server and Operating systems experience with strong Active Directory and GPO (Group Policy Objects).- Requires strong DNS/WINS - Should have 1-3 years of Scripting and/or Microsoft Development experience using any of the following: (Powershell, VBscript, C#, Perl,) - Windows Operating System (up to and including debugging) with knowledge of filesystems, drivers, etc.- Understanding of Security fundamentals and principles.- Should have experience with or a desire to learn Sysinternals, NTFS (New Technology Files System), FAT (File Allocation Table) and/or HPFS (High Performance File System) - Interpersonal Skills - Communication, flexibility, self driven, team player - Microsoft Certificate Services and knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) - Anti Virus and Endpoint Protection experience - Ned to have experience with IIS web server (Microsoft Internet Information Services) - Basic web development skills (HTML, JavaScript) - Experience working within a Clustering environment, preferably working with MSCS (Microsoft Cluster server), but would also consider those with experience with Symantec/VCS Veritas Cluster Server. - Should have Storage experience with experience working with Symantec SFW (Storage Foundation for Windows)- Virtualization experience would be a significant plus as a number of project initiatives at the firm will be virtualization based initiatives. VMWare (GSX/ESX) would be preferred experience.- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange would be helpful- MOM (Microsoft Operations Manager) and/or SCOM (System Center Operations Manager) would also be helpful to have experience with.- Hardware Vendor software & toolsets (HP/Dell/IBM) - Platform build tools (for example, Altiris, Bladelogic, etc) - FTP - Any experience with Citrix and MTS (Microsoft Terminal Server) would be a plus. Product integration experience in an enterprise environment is a MUST have for this position. Skills Desired - Knowledge of data protection technologies such as Data Protection products Symantec Data Loss Prevention products (formerly Vontu), Websense, and Varonis DatAdvantage and DataPrivilege- Knowledge of Vulnerability Scanning, Penetration Testing, and forensic tools such as Nessus, Qualys, HP Webinspect, Fortify, or EnCase- Knowledge of Security Event Management Tools (SIEM), log management, and auditing tools such as Splunk, Hadoop, or Sensage- SQL server- Symantec Anti Virus - Windows 2008 & HPC - Bigfix - SMS (Systems Management server)/SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)- Project Management - Knowledge of Networks and Firewall infrastructure - Basic working knowledge of RedHat Linux
